ARCHITECTURAL GRAPHIC COMMUNICATION

SYNOPSIS

The course focuses on the knowledge and basic manual skill on presenting the architectural design using all available presentation techniques as well as approaches and apply the acquired knowledge of verbal and visual perception and graphic communication in order to generate the ability to present and convince the audience on the idea and intention.

  • Introduction to Drawing Tools and Materials
  • The Importance of Presentation
  • Steps and Sequence of Presentation
  • Techniques of Architectural Presentation

GRAPHICAL EXPRESSION AND CONCEPT
  • Lettering, Line Weight and Line Quality
  • Tone and Value, Scale and Proportion
  • Architectural Entourage (scale figures, vegetation, vehicles, etc.)
  • Shade and Shadow
  • Texture and material Representations
  • Scale and Dimensioning
  • Orthographic Views (floor plans and elevations), Pictorial Views (perspective, axonometric and oblique views), Composition and Model Making

MANUAL GRAPHIC PRESENTATION
  • Manual Presentation Technique
  • Monochrome Media (primarily pencil with explorations of pen and ink)
  • Manual Freehand Sketch
  • Manual Medium of Presentation

ASSESSMENT



Take note on the percentage of the assessment.
Individual exercise take up to 50% of overall percentage.
It is advisable to score for the individual exercise assessment.

COURSE ATTENDANCE / REGULATIONS

1. Students must attend not less than 80% of the contact hours for every course including Compulsory Attendance Course (Hadir Wajib – HW) and Attendance Only Course (Hadir Sahaja – HS).

2. Student who does not fulfill (1) of the above is not allowed to attend further lectures and is not allowed to sit for any further assessment. Zero mark (0) will be given to student who fails to comply with (1). As for Compulsory Attendance Course (Hadir Wajib – HW), student who fails to comply with (1) will be given Failure Attendance (Hadir Gagal – HG).

3. Student must follow and obey all the University dress rules and regulations and must discipline themselves to avoid any disciplinary action.

4. Student must obey safety regulations during the learning and teaching process.
